Seen here is the remains of a Nabatean water tunnel built to divert flood waters from coursing through the narrow cleft and flooding the necropolis. A dam constructed for the same purpose in the second half of the 1st century A.D. was restored by the Jordanians after a particularly serious flooding some years ago. Download
