After the third pass - Phuyupatamarca |
The Third Pass (3650m / 11972 ft.) is not as challenging as the earlier two but it still tests your fitness as it comes on Day 3 after many miles and climbs and descents. We have lunch in cold and windy conditions on top of the third pass and then prepare mentally for the tough 1000m descent that still awaited us for the remainder of the day. No taking the afternoon off like we did yesterday The above picture is the entire Phuyupatamarca Inca site (Cloud-Level Town - named by Fejos). It has circular walls and a finely engineered aqueduct system which still provides spring water to the ancient ceremonial baths. |
