A trip to Peru (Sept/Oct) was the highlight of 2003. The highlights being an unforgettable trek on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and a 9 day Manu experience. Given that we returned from the trip and proceeded to weave plots for future high altitude non-technical treks, it would be safe to conclude that we enjoyed the Inca trail immensely. Click here for the elevation profile of the 4 day trek (the actual points we stopped were a bit different than on this map and it incorrectly refers to the highest point on the trail as "Death woman's Pass". It is Warmiwanusca or "Dead Woman's Pass") Manu was an eye opening and learning experience and not just in technical terms. However, I would not be totally honest if I claimed that I enjoyed it.
