The initial part of the climb are a series of switchbacks that quickly ascend to about 9500 feet. After half a mile, there is the "John Muir Wilderness" sign. The 30lb pack on our backs made these crossings tricky as it provided additional balancing challenges. The thought of hiking with wet socks is enough to make you doubly careful. |
