Sunday, 11:40 am: The trail so far was mostly well-defined and a gentle climb. We were glad to take a brief break from the load on our backs. No sightings of Whitney yet. Mt. Irvine loomed large on our left with its gravelly surface and we kept looking back at the stunning vista of Owens Valley and the mountains on the East.
