Monday, 8:21am: A brief stop at the switchbacks. Despite the quick ascent, one felt that one was making no progress at all as the destination still seemed at an impossible height and distance.
A descending hiker made discouraging noises about the return trip, especially when you have to ascend a few sections instead of it being all the way down.
